Best Improvement Award

The exams are finally over. The class have done generally well. I am very happy.

The winners of the Best Improvement Award for English go to Zou Jun Jie and Shawn Angel Pillay for English . The winners for the Best Improvement Award for Mathematics go to Rasyad and Abigail Sim.

They have each won themselves a $10 book voucher from Popular Bookstore with compliments from Mrs Ow Yong.

Well Done children. Keep up the good work :)

2F Photostory

Hi everyone,

I have uploaded the beautiful photostories done by the students in the EDP Portal. The students did a photostory after their visit to the Jurong Bird Park. A lot of effort was put in creating these photostories. I am very happy with the outcome.

YOG Games Day

Our school celebrated YOG with a Games Day on 11 August. 2 out of 3 teams in our class won a silver medal for the "Overhand Throw" and "Underhand Throw" event! This is a great achievement considering that there are 10 classes competing for each event.

I am happy to see the 2F students displaying good sportsmanship & marvelous team spirit on that day. Congratulations to the teams that won ! Do not be too sad if you did not win a medal on that day, it is your participation that really matters. That is the true spirit of the Olympics games.

Mid Autumn Festival

Our school organised a Mid Autumn Festival celebration for the Primary 1 & 2 students on 17 September. Some of the students in our class attended the celebrations. I felt that the highlight of the evening was when Mr Chia lead all of us for a lantern walk outside the school. It was very exciting.

Allyn also took part in the card making competition and she won a prize for her design. Well done Allyn, we are proud of you!

Classroom activities

Here are some pictures of the students in action. The photos show them using ice cream sticks for the learning of multiplication. They also had fun learning about length by measuring their friends' body parts.

Shopping Time at EDP

We converted the Maths NHSB ( No Heavy School Bag ) room into a grocery store in Term 2. The students used their knowledge in Multiplication facts for a shopping experience. They were each given a shopping list. Their task is to find out the price of each item listed on their list & work out the amount they need to pay for a given quantity.

They students had an enriching time.

Welcome back

Hi children,

Welcome back to school. I am glad to see all of you back in class.

I hope you have an enjoyable holiday.

I am glad most of you shared that you were able to spend more time with your family. Some lucky ones even got to travel overseas. I look forward to viewing some of the photos you have taken during your overseas holidays.

Some of you also shared that you went camping by the beach, stayed in a chalet and a hotel in Sentosa. I am sure you have loads of fun.

May I encourage you to continue to put in your best this semester to achieve even better results than SA1 . Let's hope we have a good Term 3 ahead.

I am also excited and look forward to our outing to the Bird Park this Friday.We will be using an ICT tool called "photostory" to do a project to record the highlights of this trip.

Rainbow Day - Mime

Our class put up a mime for Miley Cyrus "s song " The Climb". This was the theme song for the hit movie "Hannah Montana". The words were meaningful & I like it the first time I heard it. However when I first tried to introduced the idea of a mime to this song to the class, it took a while for them to buy in to the mime idea .

I guess they were more inclined towards doing a usual songs with dance steps. With a little help from You Tube to explain to them what a mime was, most of them were ready to give it a try.

By the end of 2 weeks, I see happy faces as they practised the finer actions. Some of the actions taught were actual actions from sign language.

Mr Chia and several other teachers commented that our class stood out in the crowd with our black attire. The boys look like black knights . I was proud of them . Way to go 2F! Thank you parents for coming to support the stduents :)

Learn To Swim Programme

This is the second session of the Learn to Swim program. As the weather was hot, the students had a splashing good time in the cool water. It was fun learning to swim with their own classmates. I was glad to see the excitement in the children. The swimmers were taught based on their different level of swim competence.That way, each swimmer can learn at his/her own pace. There will be 6 sessions of swimming lessons this term .

Modular CCA-Frisbee

The students had an experience playing Frisbee for their modular CCA in Term 1. It was a good chance for them to practise their hand-eye co-ordination. They also learned about teamwork during the game.
